- 1 block extra-firm tofu; cut into preferred form
- 2 TBSP mirin
- 2 TBSP light soy sauce
- 2 TBSP hoisin sauce
- 2 TBSP maple syrup
- 2 TBSP water
- 1 TBSP Dijon mustard
- 1 TSP harissa paste or hot sauce (optional)
- 1/2+ cup Japanese panko crumbs
- 1/2+ cup all-purpose flour
1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-heat. In a bowl, whisk the mirin, soy sauce, hoisin, water, Dijon mustard, maple syrup and harissa or hot sauce.
2. Prepare the flour and panko crumbs in two separate bowls.
3. To fry the tofu, follow the procedure for each piece of tofu, one at a time.
a.)dip into sauce
b.)coat in flour (shake off the excess)
c.)back again into the sauce
d.)place in the panko crumbs
e.)fry on pan until golden; flip over and don't forget the sides! Enjoy!
